Before I go any further, please do not share, screenshot, etc what I'm about to say anywhere else. I am purposely not sharing this on social media because I want to respect my mom's wishes. This is a private forum and I trust Marina and the rest of you. So it's okay for me to post here. Anyway, as some of you may know, my mom had emergency surgery because she had leisons on her appendix. It turns out that my mom has this thing called LAMN (an acronym for this extremely rare disorder); I'm talking literally only 1 in 1 million people get this. She had cancerous leisons on her appendix, but the lesions were also infected. They had also spread to her large intestines. The Drs had to remove about 2 inches (5cm) of intestine. They sent the appendix out to pathology who said they hadn't ever seen anything like this before. Long story short, her removed appendix ended up at a lab at Harvard Medical and a Dr who had initially discovered and specialized in this condition diagnosed my mom with this LAMN thing and came up with a treatment plan. Basically they think they got all the infection and cancer out; although my mom is still on lots of antibiotics just to be safe (which is why Marina's antibiotic post hit really close to home for me). My mom has to go for CT scans every couple of months for 6 months and then every 6 months. But guys, my mom is a survivor and she is as strong and optimistic as ever. My mom deserves some freaking recognition. Honestly, I'm so thankful that she survived this whole ordeal. It's not over, but knowing what's wrong is half the battle.

I'm glad she is on the road to recovery. An operation like that can be debilitating. My mom had Crohn's disease and had to have part if her colon removed.
