I was just going to say, speaking of Hollywood, Star Trek and Ms. Sirtis. Next year it'll be 30 years since the series finale of TNG. To me it just seems like yesterday. Can anyone else relate?
What about nominating Marina for a Shorty Award? I can look into what’s required and fill out an application to nominate Marina if you guys think it’s a good idea:
I looked it up some years back, and things might have changed, but the celebrity has to agree to the nomination, then things considered are professional achievement, contributions to the community and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected. At the time I read about it, it cost $50,000 if the celebrity was approved. This is to install the star and maintain it.
There’s also a fee that has to be paid yearly for the upkeep of the star. Years ago We were going to have a fan donation to get the star but thought we‘d never get the money for the yearly maintenance.
PLUS, the nominee is in a running against several people. After all that money, you can NOT get picked!! Insane!!
Just wanted to add that Marina doesn’t care about popularity or having a huge social media following. In fact, Marina seems happier after leaving social media. In my opinion, Marina would rather put out a good quality project that she stands behind than take on a project that she doesn’t believe in simply for the sake of money or fame. And I think that is absolutely amazing. As it is, Marina has a dedicated fan base who will always support her and this forum is proof of that. Marina doesn’t need a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to show how special and inspirational she is. We already know it and see it in everything that she does.
I do too. And I think Marina is more than deserving of it. But it’s become such a popularity contest now (maybe it was always that way?) and that is the antithesis of what Marina stands for. We all know how special Marina is and that’s what matters. And, honestly, I think Marina would be just as happy knowing her friends, family and friends always have her back.
I couldn't agree more. So does Gates MacFadden.
