I know that sometimes people may have thoughts buzzing around their head’s and may need a place to get them out. If that’s the case, or you just have a random fact or thought you‘d like to share, you can do so here. Keep in mind, people may or may not respond. If someone doesn’t respond/reply to your post, it’s nothing against you. Not everything will vibe with everyone here.
Also, please try to keep your posts in good taste. This is Marina’s site and I want to keep it as positive and welcoming for her and her fans as I can. A good rule of thumb is that if you’re not sure if your post is appropriate or not, than don’t post it. Hope this helps. And Marina, if you’d like me to remove this thread, please let me know and I will do so straightaway.
Wouldn't it be great if this substance really existed? To deal with the loss of a loved one or some other trauma? And wouldn't it be great if other emotionally needs could be fulfilled with medical substances?
Things like friendship and support are important. But not everyone has access to those things in their lives.
I don't know where all of you stand on the issues. But I'll share this anyways.
Gay marriage in the the United States is safe. For now. Here's why.
Chief Justice Roberts' pro-life credentials are impeccable. But he's a decent man. And he would never upset a precedent like Obergefell v. Hodges. Look at how he voted on Roe v. Wade. Plus he believes in limited gay rights. I'm serious. Gorsuch believes in limited gay rights too. But he voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. I think he'd still vote to uphold Obergefell v. Hodges though. So that's 5-4 by my math in favor of Obergefell v. Hodges.
But only one more vote would be needed to overturn it. So get off your butt and vote next time. And encourage others to vote too. Even if you think your neighbor will vote against, encourage them to vote. The more people who vote, the better.
Okay, one more for today...
Just made these.
Are there any linguists here or anyone who’s good with identifying accents? Ok, so, I was watching a video that discussed Received Pronunciation and identifying different linguistic features. It got me thinking how oftentimes people can never tell where I’m from when they hear me speak. I sometimes joke that I have the Deanna Troi of accents b/c it’s an amagalation of a few different accents and it very difficult to pinpoint. So, I’m just curious, if you’re well-versed in linguistics or good at identifying accents, how you would label mine.
I also know Marina is good at doing/mimicking accents; I’m curious to see if she could replicate my accent. Although if anyone could it would be Marina since she did the Troi accent. I can post a video of me speaking if you’d like. All I ask is that you don’t share it elsewhere.
Killing flies humanely. Just squirt them with alcohol. Isopropyl would be fine. And for some reason it always seems to take two squirts.
Does anyone else use Wordpad docs to make their own memes? I wonder if I ever had to get a laptop if Wordpad will still be available on it. I've grown accustomed to it. How do Y
ou make your memes?
Anyone else like coincidences? I share them from time to time on the internet. They just fascinate me.
I wrote a poem tonight. Let me know what you think.
Prima-donna Princess
You were born
as only yourself
But you’ve spent your entire life
trying to become somebody else.
Always blaming
everyone else.
Never once taking
a good look at yourself.
The only reason why
you gossip about me
is to take the spotlight off
of your own insecurities.
All glossed up.
So focused on the fantasy
with your perfect hair, perfect nails,
that you’ve forgotten all about reality.
You don’t care that
your life is a mess.
-But hey-
At least you look pretty
in that dress.
Sorry, but I had to include this too. You know Yuletide (as I like to call it) is coming soon. And this thread isn't dead yet.
But back around December of 1989, my mother was painting the master bedroom. So my parents had to sleep in the living room, and the tree was late going up. So I bought this fuzzy Xmas tree cut out at Kmarts in Oak Park, MI. The tree eventually went up.
But you know in a real sense, this was the first Christmas tree that year. And I have to tell you. Who is to say, what is important or has meaning to you. I find meaning in just about everything. But that is what makes life so
enjoyable for me.
Totally random question. I want to get a few hilights in my hair. It’s a medium to dark cool brown. Which of these would look better on me for the summer time? I have light olive skin and amber eyes, if that helps.
Neither of these are pics of me, btw. I found them both on google images.
Maybe this is the last thing I'll post:
You know, getting sympathy and/or support isn't always a bad thing. Mom used to say when we sent Grandpa a Christmas card, if you cross the T and dot the I just the right way, Grandpa will give us more money. And you know, she was right.
It's good advice. I wonder if I should make it into a meme.
I guess this may be the last thing I post here (for now at least). But as you may know, I find law a fascinating topic. Anyone else familiar with the concept of unconstitutionally vague? It seems some lawmakers like passing a bill that, for example, says it's illegal to sneeze or wear a bowtie. But they tell people, don't worry, we'll just enforce it against people we find suspicious. Yeah right. And BTW, this is one issue that conservative and liberal justices alike agree on.
@derka @gloria I just want to thank you both for helping me and offering me perspective with my situation. You two are amazing. Thank you both so much ☺️💕
Sometimes you have to read people the Riot Act. And sometimes you have to read yourself the Riot Act. The Riot Act in English law was a law passed in 1715 that said if twelve or more people unlawfully assembled and disturbed the public peace, upon the reading of the Riot Act, they must disperse or they were liable for life imprisonment. One time an official read the Riot Act. But the people got off because he forgot to say "God save the king".
