Saw it. My husband walks in while I was watching it, watched a bit, and said, "I would just once like to see her do a movie with her real voice." He's been to conventions and heard your voice. I tried hard to send via telepathy, "Would you please let me watch this." Didn't work, but I did finally got to watch without anymore comments from the Peanut Gallery.
That aside, I really liked the ending, especially how Athena finally tried to reach out and be friends with her soon to be daughter-in-law. I also got the hurt Athena felt when her kids wanted to move away. We want to keep our kids close to us, even in adulthood. But they grow up sooner or later and want to spread their wings. Ten years later and I still have empty nest syndrome (my older son moved out when he was 24 and I still don't have a daughter-in-law, even though he lives with 2 women. Dont ask. That's not even talking about my younger son, who's a hot mess, which is an understatement).
Did you have to learn a tiny bit of Greek for the movie or do you know Greek already?
It's going to be on Hallmark again, according to Frndly on October 16. I have set to record it so I watch it later, due to my husband not being a Hallmart movie fan.
Just found out Marina brought her forum back. Thank the gods of Betazed! :) Anyway, I'm glad to see this post too because I didn't know she was in this movie. I am going to have to see it. BTW, I was so glad to see you in Picard too. :)
From Germany, thank you so much for posting the screentshots! I really appreciate it. You did a fantastic job! BTW, Hallmark must have more money than Paramount! 🤣🤣🤣 Talk about never wearing the same outfit twice! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE CLOTHES!!!
I'm finally going to sit down with my mom tomorrow and watch this. She was in the hospital when it premiered and she's finally well enough that we can watch it together. I showed her the trailer on Youtube and she said it looks great, but she said it's going to be weird not seeing you as Troi 😂
So, I just finished watching the movie with my mom. We even had baklava to make the experience more authentic. First thing my mom said is "This is eerily familiar. I feel like I'm watching a home movie of my relatives and my own wedding". But she said the movie was really good and she enjoyed watching it. My mom also said Marina is a phenomenal actress and that Marina looked fabulous and she loved Marina's energy throughout the movie. Oh, and Athena was the epitome of her mom (my grandmother). My mom's words, not mine. So, that's my mom's movie review 😂🧿🇬🇷
That's amazing, I signed up just to see you, then Star Trek I couldn't resist signing up to watch too. You look amazing. I will be looking forward to future projects with you wherever you take us. Things are getting better. Stay healthy. Thank you for shining brightly. I am impressed. Take shit from no one!
Oh I really dont do much. Just hope for the right time to snap the pic and work on some lighting and adjustments on the coloring and stuff like that. Marina herself is like you said, the reason why they look so good. And youre welcome
Yes, where she gave the future daughter-in-law a gift and really tried to be her friend. That's the best scene, IMO. Second to that was when both mothers brought fiance to talk to his future wife. Great scenes
Would it be only possible to watch the movie on the Hallmark website or is it also coming somewhere else? (Iam very sorry I am not a star with online streaming, maybe this is a strange question. I only have a little experience with Disney plus).
The movie looks wonderful on the pictures and trailer! I think it is a feel good movie.
Angie is staying with me this week and we finally managed to track down the movie and watched it this morning!
Marina, you were fabulous! It wasn't what I expected because I thought Athena was going to be really mean but I LOVED this character, she was absolutely adorable and really did have Ilana's best wishes at heart. The perfect summer movie and I hope it was as fun to film as it was to watch.
Angie just turned to me as I write this and said "I loved that movie, it was cute as fuck" 😂
Our favourite moment was - Athena: "Ilana's says I'm lampgassing her!" haha!
🤣 I really did think about it, made me kinda hungry but 4 am just wasn't the right time🤣 I have to make sure there's butter on every layer and lots of filling😂😂😂
It IS a great movie. And Marina is freaking awesome in this. Seriously she carries the whole movir. Dont get me wrong. Her "son" is pretty cute and i love the daughter too. But what stoof out most is Marina and i enjoyed it immensely. I can't wait to watch with my mum. She will love it too (and peobably be like "I own that dress, i like that dress, i WANT THAT dress"
Damn in competing for numbers that is a great thing to be that high with a sporting event on in the states! I loved this movie and 100% have the link shareable and saved if anyone has missed it! I will have to watch it again soon, been so busy with so much I will need a pick me up soon...I can feel it...I might order some bakalava for it haha.
This is true, but I think one can show respect stating their opinions without all the gaslighting BS. Then again, I come from a small family, where everyone knows what's going on and respect your elders is "Honour thy father and mother...". Thus, why being the only child and only grandchild can sometimes suck, but then again, I failed at the stating my mind with respect, because I always got "the look" from my elders when I stated my mind and maybe some preaching, especially from my minister assistant grandfather. Small or big family, they both have their problems. In this show, it was all about tradition, tradition, tradition. In other families, especially directed to the PC (not short for privilage character), it's preaching, preaching, preaching. I sort would have preferred the tradition, tradition, tradition bit. I didn't raise my kids that way and my kids call me honest to a fault. I raised them to ask questions, seek out information, and state your opinion politely and maybe add a little humour if you can. Maybe that's why my older son thinks I'm Lwaxana Troi. lol
The first critics for the movie are out and they praise marinas performance, deem it Emmy worthy and definitely recommend the movie for streaming. And I couldnt agree more
Quote from decider:
"Performance Worth Watching: Marina Sirtis. Seriously, Hallmark, you need to submit Sirtis for an Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category, because she absolutely crushes as the passive aggressive future mother-in-law. Not only is she absolutely hilarious, she’s also able to make Athena sympathetic and more than a master of guilt trips."
Can't wait to watch it again
Also i think this movie is set up to eventually return with a part 2 (when kids enter the picture), dont you think? I really hope there will be a part 2.

IMO this is one of Marina's finest roles outside of Star Trek!!
@Marina you're fabulous!! 💕💕💕
And agreed, LOVE LOVE the wardrobe!

Love’s Greek to Me was the 2nd highest watched program on Saturday, next to the Stanley Cup! So there!!!! We’re not biased. The movie is a hit!
More screencaps :) i always try to get a perfect shot of the moment and a clear cap. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Still hope you enjoy.
Just watched it again and really enjoyed Marina's humor and timing.
Especially the gaslighting/ gasolining line 🤣. Totally Emmy deserving!
Also, who else found the main character (Ilana) really annoying?
Just Yes!!🩵🩷💙 Congratulations Marina!!
Watched the movie again without commercials hehe.
Made some screencaps (more following if you want) if you want to use them please ask me and credit :)
Wow! Nice snaps!
