When this episode came out, it was one of the highest rated episodes of Season 6. I remember everyone praising Marina at Creation Con and literally begging the producers and writers to do more for her character. One thing that really angers me about the list of "best episodes" is Face of the Enemy rarely makes it. The line, "I'll have you ejected into space!" ´was spoken with such passion as to rival Stewart's delivery. It was then that fans really began to understand that there may be more to Troi than being a potted plant. Here was a seldom used character who was taken out of her normal environment and made to perform by her captures while keeping calm and delivering the goods. Then the haters say that Troi is not leadership material because she's a counselor. Haters! She could work for Section 31 if she wanted to. Yawl just to daft and stuck in your ways to admit that Marina's Troi could perform well when asked to. I believe the reason why people can't see Troi's leadership potential is that they want a counselor who isn't threatening, that women should stay in their place and that men should lead. Yet, GOOD counselors aren't successful by keeping people on their couch. In fact doing so is unethical. They are good for giving their patients the kick in the pants to go forward and live their lives. Here's to Face of the Enemy! Let's hope in the future, people will start to honor it in the same way that they honor the Inner Light, I Borg (one of LeVar's best episodes) and First Duty. Happy 30th Birthday Face of the Enemy! You gave so much to the fans of Troi!
I agree with everything that you sais. That episode showed us what marina could do with her talend and also what other depths there were to troi. After thar her storylines and her part grew a little bigger. Or is that just me who had the feeling it did?

One of my favorite episodes. And Marina is my favorite Romulan. :)
The episodes always made you think too. And they had such a profound moral less, and made you think that way too.
Oh yeah, great one!!!
