I created name signs for both Marina and for her character Deanna Troi in American Sign Language. The thing is, name signs are a right of passage in the Deaf community. You can't give yourself a name sign; you need to get it frim a deaf/hard of hearing person who's part of the Deaf Community. If you ever received confirmation, it's like when you get your confirmation name (significance-wise). Here's the video. It's in voice-off ASL. I'll post the transcript in the comment below this so you can follow along if you want. Yeah, ASL is a VERY expressive language as you can probably see below.

Hey Val, it's not ASL, but I was looking at my creations on my comp. It's also not TNG, but I made these avatars a few years ago for my Voyager forum that I'm also on. I'm hoping you appreciate them, Val, whether you are a VOY fan or not. If you are, feel free to use them, if you have a need for VOY avatars and want them. Anyone who wants to use them can use them actually. I never made any TNG ones and I can't remember the site where I got the letters I used to make these or I'd make TNG ones too. That and I don't even have the program that I used to combine the fingerspelling signs.
I'll read it this week and try my best to give feedback. One suggestion (if you haven't already done so) is to italicize the dialogue that's signed. Another is to write in gloss. For example the sentence "I need to go to the store today" written in gloss would be "TODAY STORE I-GO MUST". Yes, gloss is written in all caps. Hope this helps.
The video isn't working for me. It's just a black screen. :'(

Hey. What's up? My name is Val (fingerspells V-A-L). My name sign is (shows name sign). It's the letter V but it's combined with the sign for smile. (Does name sign again). Ok, so I developed a name sign for Marina Sirtis (name is fingerspelled). [Shows name sign]. It's the letter M combined with the sign for the country Greece (first fingerspelled and then signed). Again, her name sign is (shows Marina's name sign). Also, I came up with a name sign for the character Deanna Troi (her name is fingerspelled). [Shows name sign]. It's the letter D combined with the sign for feeling. What do you all think? Are the name signs for them good or no? Let me know. Okay. Bye.
